Hidden down the drive of moss-hung live oaks, Cottage 57 once sheltered a celebrated playwright, his wife and their beloved Dalmatian, Blemie. Christened Casa Genotta by the O’Neills, a combination of Gene and Carlotta, the beachfront cottage is now a fantasy destination for guests to experience history and the grand luxury of Sea Island.

A masterpiece of the architect Francis Louis Abreu, the main features of the property are detailed in the following sections, and are accompanied by current photographs. Please click on the book icon for excerpts of Carlotta Monterey O’Neill’s private diaries and a remembrance of times past.
